Watt Intelligent Solutions Approach

Watt Intelligent Solutions analyses aggregated electricity consumption data provided by smart meters over a certain period of time (typically 1 month) and is able to disaggregate it into the main household appliances.

Watt-IS approach is based on a proprietary Software solution (Wattanalyzer) which avoids the installation of additional measuring equipment at each main appliance, which has increased costs and intrusiveness. Our solution allows analyzing all residential consumers that have a smart meter installed in a fast and efficient way.

A functional prototype has been developed by Watt-IS that is able to analyze in few seconds the electricity consumption of households and identify when and which appliances were used. The software generates two levels of information:

• one layer for the end-user, suggesting targeted energy efficiency measures, like changing electricity tariff or reducing contracted power, estimating the amount of financial benefits per year and producing comparisons with other users
• another layer for the utility, identifying for example the potential of the client to do load shift for non peak consumption periods
