Watt Intelligent Solutions has developed a software based tool (Wattanalyzer) that aims to provide energy utility companies with a new layer of information about disaggregated energy consumptions of domestic customers. This layer of information will be possible to obtain through the massive deployment of smart meters that is being pursued worldwide and will allow utilities to:

• provide new information services to the end electricity household clients such as detailed consumption breakdowns per main appliance and energy efficiency measures that may be delivered jointly with billing information
• provide comparisons of energy efficiency usage with other typical household clients
• develop targeted marketing strategies based on more accurate client segmentation achieved by the information gathered
• develop new tariff schemes in the deregulated market targeted at specific market segments
• suggest energy efficiency measures to home owners that are tailored to their energy consumption patterns
• evaluate the potential surpluses generated towards the consumer and the utility by the creation of novel tariff schemes
• better align production and consumption patterns through improved estimations of energy consumptions in the residential sector
• evaluate the impact and to implement demand side management approaches in the residential sector allowing to reduce peak energy loads
